Getting on and off the Island

Chebeague Island is a beautiful spot in Casco bay with delicious food, spectacular views, and full of New England charm; it’s the perfect setting for our wedding weekend. All of the wedding events will take place on Chebeague, but we imagine you will be able to check out some of the amazing things that Portland has to offer as well!  We have visited the island a few times over the last couple of years, trying all of the travel options, we are so excited that you will be able to experience this place we have come to love so much.

While it may seem daunting, there are a few simple ways to get to and from the island:

Chebeague Transportation Company (CTC)

Just a 15 minute cruise across the bay from Cousin’s Island in Yarmouth right to Stone Wharf, followed by a short 5 minute walk to the Inn, we can also arrange to have you picked up by van if you would prefer! This is the easiest way to and from the island and we’ve paid for your ticket! On the day of the wedding (Saturday) there will be buses from the Courtyard Marriott in Portland directly to the wharf, so all you have to do is be in the right place, at the right time.

For the Welcome Party and Brunch, or if you are driving in from elsewhere, there is a parking lot for the CTC in Cumberland, just 15 minutes from the Marriott, where you can board the provided bus to the Ferry. It’s a short adventure! Parking there is a separate $15 per day, but again, if you mention us and the wedding your ferry ticket is paid for. You could also take a cab or rideshare directly to the pier! Here is the addresses and schedule for this ferry:

Parking Lot: 1 Thomas Dr, Cumberland Foreside, ME 04110

Direct Ferry Access (no parking): 178 Wharf Rd, Yarmouth, ME 04096

Casco Bay Lines

Maybe it’s a beautiful day, maybe you’ve never experienced the beauty of Casco Bay, maybe you’ve just got some time to kill, the Casco Bay Line is another awesome way to get over to Chebeague. Being the last stop on the Ferry, this trip takes you through the bay on a scenic tour of the gorgeous isles off Portland’s coast. Round trip tickets cost $14 and the trip is roughly an hour and 20 minutes stopping at a few of the islands for locals and visitors alike. The return trip, however, is just about 20 minutes back to Portland. This one is also very easy to get to, walkable from The Old Port in Portland. This ferry does let off on the far side of the island, so if you’re using this option, let someone know and we will plan to have you picked up! Here is the address and schedule for this ferry:

56 Commercial St, Portland, ME 04101

Fogg’s Water Taxi

Fogg’s offers direct transportation to the islands of Casco Bay. All taxis are reservation based so book as soon as you can. When calculating fares you will be departing Portland and you should aim to land at the Chebeague (Stone Pier). Here is the website for Foggs:

Weekend events

Portland Based Guide:

We are so happy that you will be joining us for our wedding weekend! While all wedding related events will take place on the island, Portland is a wonderful city full of fantastic food and lots of sights to explore. Here are details about the events planned for each day:

FRIDAY-

Welcome Party:

We’d be delighted for you to join us on the Island for libations to kick off the weekend! The welcome party will be held in the Chebeague Island Inn’s restaurant starting at around 7:00pm. For the fastest method of transportation, take the CTC out of Cumberland. We recommend you take the bus that departs Route 1 at 6:00pm or 8:00pm to get there, and make sure you don’t miss the 10:30 return ferry! Again, the CTC ferry is the preferred option, and the one that we have paid for, so mention us and the wedding and you’ll get your ticket for free! You will need to pay for parking, but if you’re heading in from nearby you could always take a cab or rideshare directly to the pier! After your short ferry ride, you’re almost at the Inn. Let us know if you’ll be coming and we’ll be sure to arrange for a pickup, if you’d prefer to walk, the Inn is just 5 minutes up the hill, you can see it from the dock!

Enjoy your first round on us! At the bar, tell them you are with Tim Weston. The kitchen should be open until 9pm if you haven't had the chance to eat, we will also have snacks available. The bar will be open until we decide to leave, hope to see you there!

SATURDAY:

Wedding Day:

Enjoy your morning! There is a lot to see and do in Portland, ME.

There will be 2 shuttle buses at the Courtyard by Marriott (321 Commercial St, Portland, ME 04101) leaving at 1:45pm. These shuttles will take you directly to the Cousins Island pier. Here you will board the ferry that leaves at 2:15pm that will take you right to the inn! Again, the ferry is fully paid for by us all you need to do is say that you are there for the wedding and they will let you hop on! After a short ferry ride across the water, you will be able to see the big yellow Inn from the dock. The Ceremony, Reception, and After-Party will all be hosted right there.

There will be vans and golf carts waiting for you at the dock if you would like a ride up to the ceremony, but, if it's a nice day, we recommend walking up to the Wedding!

The Ceremony begins at 3:30pm, so you’ll have some time beforehand to chat, find your seat, and take in the beautiful views over Casco bay. It will be short and sweet, feel free to cheer, cry, just let those emotions out.

Following the ceremony, the Cocktail hour will take place on the Inn’s lawn and porch from 4pm-5pm and will feature some excellent music, a raw bar and appetizers and drinks!

The reception will then follow at 5:00pm in the Inn-adjacent tent with a live band (Plush) and some dinner, drinks, dessert and dancing. Did we mention the bar is open? Well it is, at least until the last call at 9:40pm when the band has to pack it up and we will head into the Inn’s restaurant for the After-Party.

If you would like to stay for the After-Party, we will continue the night with a cash bar along with late night pizza and soft pretzels! There will also be a fire pit with s'mores fixings!

All great nights must come to an end, unfortunately. Leaving the Island is just the same as when you came! If you’re leaving from the reception, the band will make announcements when you should move down to the dock for ferry departures. We will have shuttle buses waiting at each of these times to transport you back to the pickup location at the Courtyard by Marriott. Those times to depart the wedding are:

8:00pm | 9:30pm | 10:30pm

*If you happen to miss one of the above times, let someone know, we will be able to get you home!

SUNDAY-

Brunch:

If you still haven’t had enough of us yet, we will be hosting a brunch in the tent. Getting there should be easy for you by now, you’re practically an expert!

We still need to figure out when that’s happening, get it together, committee!

For the most effective method of transportation, take the CTC out of Cumberland.  https://www.ctcferry.org/

Park your car at the Yarmouth route one location

1 Thomas Dr, Cumberland Foreside, ME 04110

We recommend you take the Bus departs Route 1 at 7:45 am or 9:45 am

Once you arrive at the ferry no need to purchase a ticket simply tell the crew member you are there for the DiMattia-Weston wedding

Enjoy the rest of your day!
